Q: I am not sure how to use the service?

A: First, go to our UK Rates page and see if the place you're calling is listed there. If it is, just dial the access number, you'll then hear a prompt asking you to dial the number you want to call. Dial the telephone number you want to call then and just talk! An example: If you want to call South Africa, you'd dial 0844 484 0500, listen for the prompt ('please dial the number you wish to call') and would then dial 00 for an international call, followed by 27 for the country code for South Africa and then the phone number of the person you want to call - so you'd dial 0844 484 0500 then 0027xxxxxxxxx.

Q: How much do you pay for your call?

A: British Telecom charge the access number 0844 484 0500 at 5p per minute.

Q: How do you pay for your call?

A: You will be billed for your call to our access number on your phone bill from your telephone supplier as normal. The onward call to the international number you dialled is not an additional charge; you just pay for the call to our number and that's it.

Q: When does the call charge start?

A: It starts from the moment your call to HelloHowzit is answered (when you hear the prompt asking you to dial the number you want to call) so if the person you're calling isn't in, don't let the phone ring endlessly as your phone provider will charge you for your call to our service.

Q: Will the international number you called show on your phone bill?

A: No. Only the call to the HelloHowzit number you dialled will be shown and charged for by your phone provider.

Q: Do you need any special equipment or anything?

A: No. All you need is a phone that sends tone signals (most telephones do this automatically). If you're unsure whether your phone is tone, press a number on the keypad, if you hear a beep then your phone is tone, if you hear a click then it's pulse and you will need to set it to tone (there's usually a switch on the bottom or side of the phone).

Q: Can you use HelloHowzit from a mobile or a pay phone?

A: Yes. Mobile phone providers or pay phones may vary in their charges to our access numbers so please check with your provider first to check their charge. If you are dialling from a mobile, please don't press the send button twice - so dial the HelloHowzit number, press send once, then dial the international number you want to call but don't press send again.

Q: Are there any extra charges at all?

A: No.
